OT Update on my daughter
The hospital refused to take her. They basically listened to both sides of our stories. Of course in front of the evaluator she was on her best behavior and smiling and told him that we just had a misunderstanding and that I was lying. He believed her. He asked her if she ever said she was suicidal, she said "oh no, I would never do anything to hurt myself" (she lied) but of course he fell for it ........again. I don't know what else to do! Then all the way home she was laughing at me saying horrible things to me. It was aweful. I took her back to my brothers. Her dad is moving back to california soon. (not soon enough) Then she will go live with him. I just don't know what to do with her in the mean time. She can't stay at my brothers for longer than tomorrow. Anyways, thank you all for letting me vent! and thank you so much for the support you have given to me.

Having been a RN in the mental health for a significant portion of my career, I understand your frustration and your desire to do the best for your daughter. I have a schizophrenic sister so I know how tough this can be.

Linda,
I am so sorry about your daughter and level of frustration. Have you tried LB Child and Family Guidance Center? Also, as a therapist who has initated 72 hour holds, I know how frustrating it is. Many times those evaluating for a hold are baseing their decision right at that moment, not at what has been or will be. It is in the moment. If you feel as though she is suicidal or a harm to others you can always call 911 at the moment and have the SMART team out to evaluate her. Waiting til the next day after the storm has calmed will continue to leave you feeling frustrated. Let me know if I can help you. You can PM me at any time.
